How Can Acupuncture Treat Conditions Such as Neck and Back Pain?

“When there is lack of free flow, there is pain. When there is free flow, there is no pain”.

This statement from Chinese Medical Texts refers to the flow of Qi. Pain in general according to

Chinese Medicine occurs when Qi becomes blocked and cannot move freely. This can occur commonly

in the neck and back because of work-related trauma and carrying around every day emotional stress in

our muscles. Once muscles become tight and contracted, qi is unable to flow as smoothly as it should, in

some cases causing pain and soreness. Over time this lack of qi movement can develop into more

serious illnesses such as arthritis and spinal stenosis. Acupuncture helps to restore the movement of qi

by unblocking its path and bringing new healthy qi and blood to the area. It has been shown to decrease

inflammation, both acute and chronic as well as improve mobility. Injuries to muscles, tendons and

fascia can also benefit greatly from Acupuncture because it reduces inflammation and promotes healing.
